NABU Kreisverband Minden-Lübbecke
editAbout Us
editThe NABU Kreisverband Minden-Lübbecke is a dynamic and committed organization that has been advocating for the protection of nature, landscapes, and the environment in the district for years. With about 2400 members, the association is the largest environmental organization in the region and part of the nationwide and federal network of the Nature Conservation Association Germany (NABU).
Mission and Values
editOur main mission is the promotion of nature, landscape, and environmental protection. NABU Minden-Lübbecke is non-partisan and is solely committed to a livable environment. We believe that a strong community of supporters is crucial to halt the ongoing destruction of nature and to influence political decisions.
Key Products and Services
edit- Environmental Education: The NABU Visitor Center Moorhus serves as a central educational institution for sustainable development. Here we offer experiential educational programs for people of all ages, focusing on the Great Peat Bog and the diverse landscapes of the district[3].
- Conservation Projects: We are involved in various projects, such as owl and stork protection, the protection of wading and meadow birds, and the maintenance of valuable habitats like meadows, moors, and forests[1][2].
- Research and Political Advocacy: NABU conducts studies to provide strong arguments for nature conservation and advocates for issues such as bird protection, sustainable agriculture, and renewable energies in public discussions[2].
Sustainability Goals and Initiatives
edit- Protection of Endangered Species: We support initiatives like the "People's Initiative for Biodiversity" and advocate for the protection of endangered species to prevent species extinction[4].
- Climate-Friendly Mobility: NABU Minden-Lübbecke collaborates with other environmental and transport associations to promote a climate-friendly transport transition, particularly through the preservation and expansion of railway lines[5].
- Voluntary Engagement: We offer numerous opportunities for volunteer work and promote the active participation of our members in various working groups and projects[2].
Activities and Events
editNABU Minden-Lübbecke regularly organizes excursions, events, and seminars to discover and explore nature. These include identification seminars for insects, training courses for certified nature and landscape guides, and monitoring breeding sites of endangered bird species[5].
With our commitment and the support of our members, we continuously work to protect and preserve nature and the environment in our region.
