About Musikfonds e.V.
editMusikfonds e.V. is a central institution for the promotion of contemporary music in Germany. Founded in 2016 at the initiative of the former State Minister for Culture and Media, Prof. Monika Grütters, the association is committed to supporting music projects that are characterized by artistic ambition and a non-commercial orientation. The focus is on promoting music that is understood as an existential-creative necessity or as an expression of an indispensable will for self-realization. This music is independent, visionary, and often experimental, shaping both the free music scene and established parts of the music industry.

editMusikfonds e.V. provides financial support for projects in a variety of genres, including new music, contemporary modern, experimental jazz, improvised music, electronic and electroacoustic music, as well as experimental pop and rock. Radical trends in DJing and dance, audio installations, and sound art are also promoted. The funding programs are aimed at projects taking place in Germany that do not benefit from other permanent funding from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media (BKM).

The association is based in Berlin and is led by a board under the direction of Prof. Martin Maria Krüger, President of the German Music Council.
