Mus-e

MUS-E® is an internationally established educational program that enables children to engage with various art forms in school or daycare. Artists from the fields of theater, visual arts, architecture, media arts, music, literature, and dance conduct creative projects in the classrooms. These projects include weekly double sessions where children actively participate in artistic activities, fostering their creativity, social skills, and personal development[2][5].

The main mission of MUS-E® is to promote the artistic and social development of children and young people, thereby contributing to a more balanced, fair, and inclusive society. The program is based on the values of respect, tolerance, and the belief that the arts have a transformative power to enhance understanding of neighboring cultures and strengthen social cohesion. The principle "Give the voiceless a voice" by initiator Lord Yehudi Menuhin is reflected in the work of MUS-E®, supporting minorities and disadvantaged groups[1][3].

MUS-E® is committed to long-term and systemic positive impacts on the class, school, and family. The program promotes personal development, social skills, and artistic expressions by creating a non-evaluative experiential space where children can discover and develop their own strengths. Through partnerships with businesses and educational institutions, MUS-E® continuously expands its reach to bring the program to different regions and enable more schools to participate[2][3].

MUS-E® has been recognized for its outstanding social initiatives. In 2019, the program was awarded as particularly valuable by then Chancellor Angela Merkel and honored as one of the 25 most compelling social initiatives in Germany as part of the startsocial e.V. competition. Additionally, MUS-E® is represented on the European School Education Platform of the European Commission[1][3].

MUS-E® provides ongoing support for teachers and participating artists through mentoring, consulting, coordination, and a Europe-wide network. The program also includes training and a sustainable presence in the classroom to ensure that all participants receive optimal support[1][2].

Through its comprehensive and diverse activities, MUS-E® makes an important contribution to humanistic education and social integration by encouraging children and young people to express themselves and strengthen their self-confidence.
