About Mobility Institute Berlin
editThe Mobility Institute Berlin (mib) was founded in 2018 by Torben Greve and four other companions to revolutionize public transport (ÖPNV) in Germany. With a team of over 20 experts in strategic consulting, data analysis, and communication, mib has successfully implemented 53 mobility transition projects in nearly all major cities in Germany in recent years. The projects include, among others, the public transport revolution in Hamburg, the development of a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) for Cologne, and the design of an innovative and customer-friendly bus system in Frankfurt.
Mission and Values
editThe mission of mib was to make public transport more attractive to motivate people to switch from cars to buses and trains. This was intended not only to improve the quality of life but also to make a significant contribution to climate protection. The company relied on tailored concepts and the close involvement of all key decision-makers to realize genuine mobility transition projects. Despite the challenges in the industry, mib remained true to its vision of thinking "bigger, more visionary, and user-oriented."
Sustainability Goals and Initiatives
editSustainability was at the heart of mib's work. By promoting public transport and developing bike-sharing strategies as well as multimodal transport systems, the company actively contributed to reducing CO2 emissions and promoting environmentally friendly mobility solutions. The projects aimed to make cities more livable and to shape the mobility of the future sustainably.
Farewell to the Consulting Market
editDespite the successful implementation of numerous projects and the positive feedback on their work, mib has decided to cease regular consulting operations at the end of January 2024. The decision was made due to the challenges of operating the business profitably and the "change fatigue" in the public transport sector. Nevertheless, founder Torben Greve remains available as an inspirator and advisor for transport policymakers and public transport executives to continue promoting innovative and ambitious mobility solutions.
The Mobility Institute Berlin thanks all customers, partners, and supporters who have accompanied the company on its journey. With pride, mib looks back on the milestones achieved and bids farewell with nostalgia, but also with confidence in the future of mobility.
