The Maßregelvollzugszentrum Niedersachsen (MRVZN) is a state-owned enterprise dedicated to the treatment and rehabilitation of people with mental disorders who have become conspicuous in connection with criminal offenses. The MRVZN is divided into the three specialist hospitals for Forensic Psychiatry and Psychotherapy in Moringen, Bad Rehburg and Brauel, as well as other clinics that perform the sovereign tasks of forensic commitment for the state of Niedersachsen.

The MRVZN locations have treatment places for persons committed under criminal law in accordance with §§ 63, 64 StGB. The MRVZN Moringen is the largest facility and provides central treatment services for women, adolescents, young adults and substance addicts. The MRVZN Brauel specializes in the treatment of patients with addiction to illegal drugs. The MRVZN Bad Rehburg treats patients in forensic commitment according to §64 StGB.

The main task of the MRVZN is the successful reintegration of mentally ill people into an independent and self-determined life in the family, social and professional sphere. This is achieved through a versatile, modern and psychodynamic treatment concept that includes psychotherapy, sociotherapy and pharmacotherapy. A special focus is on the treatment and care of chronically ill people.

The MRVZN also offers apprenticeships in various areas, including the medical-therapeutic service, the nursing service and the administrative service.
