editThe Westflügel Leipzig is a renowned international production center for puppet theater, deeply rooted in the national and international puppet theater scene. Since its founding in 2003, the Westflügel has established itself as an important venue for contemporary puppet and object theater. The historic building with its distinctive Art Nouveau architecture provides a unique backdrop for a diverse artistic program that ranges from theater performances to dance and music, as well as exhibitions.

editThe Westflügel Leipzig serves as a co-production partner and guest performance venue for international artists and ensembles. Two independent Leipzig ensembles, Figurentheater Wilde & Vogel and Lehmann und Wenzel, are regularly active at the venue. In addition, the Westflügel is a meeting point for an international ensemble of puppeteers, dancers, visual artists, actors, and musicians. The cultural bar froelich & herrlich, located on the ground floor of the Westflügel, offers its own cultural program on event evenings and Fridays.

Sustainability Goals and Initiatives
editThe Westflügel Leipzig is committed to preserving and carefully renovating the historic building. The association Lindenfels Westflügel e. V., founded in 2005, supports the preservation of the building as well as the artistic work of the puppet theater center with its supporting members. Thanks to donations and a successful crowdfunding campaign, the first permanently installed heating system was put into operation in 2014, further improving the sustainability of the operation.

editA highlight in the event calendar is the annual summer festival on the closed Hähnelstraße, which offers a colorful program of puppet theater, music, dance, and art. This event is an example of the creative and inviting atmosphere that Westflügel Leipzig creates to connect art and community.
