About Leibniz-Zentrum Moderner Orient
editThe Leibniz-Zentrum Moderner Orient (ZMO) is the only research institution in Germany that deals with the Middle East, Africa, Eurasia, as well as South and Southeast Asia in an interdisciplinary and historically comparative manner. The focus of the research is on the interaction of predominantly Muslim societies and their relationships with non-Muslim neighboring regions.
Key Products and Services
editThe ZMO offers a wide range of research projects that address topics such as age and generation, environment and justice, representations of the past, as well as contested religion and intellectual culture. These projects are supported by overarching, exploratory, and complementary research that deals with contemporary historical and transregional entanglements. The research results are published in various publication series such as the ZMO Studies, ZMO Programmatic Texts, and ZMO Working Papers.
