editThe Leibniz-Gemeinschaft is an association of 96 independent research institutions that cover a wide range of scientific disciplines. From natural, engineering, and environmental sciences to economic, spatial, and social sciences, as well as the humanities, the Leibniz institutes address socially, economically, and ecologically relevant questions. They conduct both basic and applied research and offer research-based services. A particular focus is on knowledge transfer, which is promoted through the Leibniz research museums and close collaboration with universities, industry, and international partners.
The mission of the Leibniz-Gemeinschaft is to contribute to solving pressing societal challenges through excellent research. The promotion of science and research, as well as the support of the member institutes, is at the center of this mission. The community places great importance on transparency and quality assurance, which is reflected in an independent evaluation process to which all institutes are subjected.
