Kultur- und Kreativpiloten

The award Kultur- und Kreativpiloten Deutschland is an outstanding program that has been conducted since 2010 in the name of the initiative for cultural and creative industries of the federal government. It is aimed at self-employed individuals, founders, and companies from the diverse sector of cultural and creative industries as well as their interfaces with other sectors.

• Award and Mentoring: Each year, 32 companies and projects are awarded and receive a one-year mentoring program. This program includes individual consulting by two mentors, workshops with changemakers and experts, and access to a unique network of creative pilots[2][4].

The main mission of the program is to strengthen the position of the cultural and creative industries in Germany and to bring the sector into political and media focus. It aims to highlight entrepreneurial courage, commitment to new ideas, and a special attitude of the awardees. The cultural and creative pilots stand for responsibility, social impact, and innovative solutions in challenging times[2][3][4].

• Innovative and Sustainable Projects: Many of the awarded projects focus on sustainable and innovative solutions. Examples include recycling plastic waste, developing plastic-free packaging, and initiatives for an energy transition and intercultural exchange[4].
• Social Impact: The cultural and creative pilots work to achieve social impact by, for example, revolutionizing education systems, providing opportunities for disadvantaged groups, and contributing to sustainable development[4].

The selection of the cultural and creative pilots takes place through a multi-stage application process. After a pre-selection, around 80 applicants are invited to selection interviews, where a heterogeneous expert jury from the fields of business, culture, activism, and politics evaluates the projects[2][3].

The application phase for the cultural and creative pilots 2024/25 is completed, and the new awardees will be announced on November 26, 2024. The program remains an important driver for the cultural and creative industries by promoting and making visible courage, commitment, and innovative ideas[2].
