    About Korea Verband e.V.

The Korea Verband e.V. is a politically independent, German-speaking information and cooperation platform dedicated to promoting understanding of the history, culture, and current developments on the Korean Peninsula. As a founding member of the Stiftung Asienhaus, the association has been committed since 1990 to human and civil rights movements and works closely with national, European, and international non-governmental organizations as well as experts from academia, journalism, politics, trade unions, churches, environmental and women's movements, arts, and culture.

    Mission and Values

The main mission of the Korea Verband is to promote the development of an active civil society as an expression of democratic culture and to enable critical reflection on nationalism. The association advocates for addressing the challenges of globalization, particularly regarding the respect for human rights in the context of migration. Another focus is on coming to terms with the past to promote peaceful coexistence in East Asian regions.

    Key Products and Services

The Korea Verband offers a variety of educational and informational services, including the organization of expert conferences, seminars, and international symposia on political, social, economic, and cultural topics. A special highlight is the publication of the "Korea Forum," the only German-language journal that deals with the Korean Peninsula. In addition, the association promotes intercultural dialogue through exchange programs and cultural events such as literary readings, film screenings, and art exhibitions.

    Sustainability Goals and Initiatives

The Korea Verband is actively engaged in promoting peace and human rights. A prominent project is the support of the Peace Statue in Berlin, which serves as a symbol against racism and for raising awareness about the crimes of the Japanese army against so-called "comfort women." The association operates a museum that serves as an educational facility for youth and citizens, focusing on peace and human rights education. These initiatives are funded through donations and membership fees, with a large part of the work being done on a voluntary basis.

    Intercultural Encounters and Education

A central concern of the Korea Verband is the creation of spaces for intercultural encounters. The association rents its modern, barrier-free facilities in Berlin for seminars, workshops, and film screenings. These facilities are well-connected by public transport and provide an ideal environment for events that promote intercultural exchange.

The Korea Verband e.V. is a vibrant example of civil society engagement and offers a platform for all those interested in Korea and who wish to actively contribute to the promotion of peace and human rights.
