JOBLINGE: An Initiative Against Youth Unemployment
editAbout JOBLINGE
editJOBLINGE is a non-profit organization that has been dedicated to the integration of disadvantaged young people aged 15 to 27 into the labor market since 2008. Founded by the Boston Consulting Group and the Eberhard von Kuenheim Foundation of BMW AG (now BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt), JOBLINGE operates at over 30 locations across Germany.
Mission and Values
editThe main mission of JOBLINGE is to combat youth unemployment and enable disadvantaged young people to achieve sustainable integration into the labor market and society. The organization relies on a combination of professional and social support to prepare participants for vocational dual training or employment in the primary labor market. Values such as practical experience from day one, one-on-one support from volunteer mentors and staff, as well as the combined societal commitment of business, government, and civil society form the pillars of JOBLINGE's work[1][2][4].
Key Products and Services
editThe six-month JOBLINGE program is divided into four phases:
- Intake Phase: Here, the motivation and willingness of the participants are assessed to ensure that the program is suitable for them.
- Orientation Phase: This phase serves for career orientation, finding professional fields, and imparting key competencies through group projects and training.
- Qualification Phase: In this phase, participants learn important social and job skills in group projects and gain practical experience in partner companies.
- Placement Phase: Here, the young people work towards securing their training or job through internships and trial days[1][2][4].
Sustainability Goals and Initiatives
editJOBLINGE has distinguished itself through outstanding sustainability goals:
- A placement rate of 77 percent and a sustainability rate of 84 percent underline the long-term success of the initiative[1][5].
- The organization consolidates the commitment of over 2,400 partner companies, 2,700 volunteer mentors, and 50 public sponsors to ensure comprehensive support[2][4].
- JOBLINGE has also developed special programs like JOBLINGE Kompass to integrate young refugees into the labor market and has responded to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic with a digital program[3][4].
Current Initiatives
editJOBLINGE continuously responds to current societal challenges, such as the integration of refugees from Ukraine. Through years of experience and a strong network in industry, government, and civil society, JOBLINGE makes a significant contribution to closing the skills gap and promoting young people on their path into the labor market[3][4].
