Initiative Awareness e.V.

The Awareness Initiative, based in Leipzig, Germany, is a committed organization dedicated to implementing and promoting awareness strategies in various areas of society. Founded in the summer of 2018 by experienced people from the event sector, the initiative aims to pool and pass on knowledge and expertise to combat sexual violence and discrimination.

• Advisory and support: The initiative advises and supports venues in the implementation of awareness strategies and trains employees and awareness teams nationwide.
• Training and education: It organises comprehensive training courses, conferences and networking days to train and sensitise a wide range of actors.
• Workshops and events: The initiative develops and offers workshops and public events to raise awareness of the issues of sexualized violence and discrimination[2].

The main mission of the Initiative Awareness is to develop strategies to minimise sexual violence and discrimination of all kinds at events and to support those affected, from an intersectional perspective that takes into account the diversity of experiences and backgrounds of those involved.

• Continuous learning: The initiative emphasises the importance of continuous learning and remains up to date in current debates and publications[2].
• Practice-oriented and stakeholder-centered: The work of the initiative is practice-oriented and tailored to the individual needs of the stakeholders[2].

• Dissemination of awareness structures: The initiative works to establish and further develop awareness structures not only in the event context, but also in other areas of society[2].
• Networking: Through the organisation of networking days, expert conferences and collegial exchange spaces, the initiative promotes networking and exchange between different actors.
• Support for victims: A central objective is to support people affected by sexualised violence or discrimination through supervision and support[2].

The Awareness Initiative remains active in the development and implementation of workshops and events. Currently, the team is looking for people who would like to participate in the concept development of workshop modules on the topic "Consciousness in Structures".

Through its comprehensive efforts and many years of experience, the Awareness Initiative makes an important contribution to the creation of safer and more inclusive event and living spaces.
