The Helmholtz Zentrum München, known as Helmholtz Munich, is one of the largest and most renowned biomedical research centers in Germany. As a member of the Helmholtz Association, the largest German scientific organization, we work at the interface of environmental and health research to develop groundbreaking solutions for a healthier society.

Our mission is to develop innovative solutions for environmentally related and metabolic diseases in a rapidly changing world. We focus on researching common diseases such as diabetes, allergies, and chronic lung diseases that are exacerbated by environmental factors and climate change. The Helmholtz Zentrum München is headquartered in Neuherberg near Munich and has additional locations in Munich, Garching, Augsburg, Tübingen, Hannover, Dresden, and Leipzig. With over 2,500 employees, we are a significant employer in the scientific community.

We place great importance on promoting young scientists. The Helmholtz Graduate School Environmental Health (HELENA) and other Helmholtz Research Schools offer excellent opportunities for doctoral candidates and postdocs to specialize in various research areas. The Helmholtz Pioneer Campus provides an interdisciplinary research platform for young scientists and startups[3][5].
