Germanwatch

Germanwatch e.V. is an independent organization that has been advocating for sustainable global development, environmental protection, and the preservation of human rights for over 30 years. Based in Bonn and Berlin, Germanwatch works with a team of over 100 employees, volunteers, and interns, as well as a growing network of volunteers and international partner organizations.

The main mission of Germanwatch is to promote North-South justice and the protection of livelihoods. The goal is sustainable development that is socially just, ecologically viable, and economically stable. Germanwatch advocates for fair trade relations, responsible financial markets, adherence to human rights, and the avoidance of dangerous climate change.

Germanwatch focuses on several key areas:

• Climate Protection and Adaptation, Losses and Damages: This involves assessing and comparing the climate performance of countries, particularly through the annually published Climate Change Performance Index and the Global Climate Risk Index.
• Corporate Responsibility: Germanwatch calls on companies to pursue sustainable and responsible practices.
• Global Trade, Land Use, and Food Security: The organization works on fair trade relations and ensures food security worldwide.
• Sustainable and Democratic Digitalization: Germanwatch promotes the sustainable and democratic use of digital technologies.
• Education for Sustainable Development: Educational initiatives are an important part of Germanwatch's work.
• Sustainable Finance: The organization advocates for responsible financial markets and sustainable financing of development projects.
• Climate and Human Rights: Germanwatch is engaged in the legal representation of climate and human rights.

Germanwatch operates on the principle of "Observe, Analyze, Act":
