editThe Ecological Volunteer Services Koppelsberg are an important institution in Schleswig-Holstein that offers young people the opportunity to actively engage in nature, climate, and environmental protection. As one of the two sponsors of the Freiwilliges Ökologisches Jahr in Schleswig-Holstein, we provide over 90 placement opportunities that span the entire state. These range from projects on sailing boats and coastal regions to activities in cities, villages, and with various environmental and nature conservation organizations.
Our mission is to provide young people with practical orientation in the field of ecological education and to raise awareness for sustainable development. We are proud to be recognized as a certified educational institution for sustainability and to be part of the youth organization of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany. Our work is based on the values of sustainability, education, and community, and we promote the development of our participants' own projects and initiatives.
A central component of our programs is the Freiwilliges Ökologisches Jahr (FÖJ), which offers young people the opportunity to work for 12 months at a placement in Schleswig-Holstein or abroad. During this time, the volunteers support their placements with various tasks and gain insights into different professional fields. The year is accompanied by five seminars in which participants can exchange and deepen their knowledge about ecological topics such as nutrition, energy, and agriculture.
Additionally, we offer the Ecological Federal Volunteer Service (ÖBFD), which also focuses on nature and environmental protection. Both programs place great importance on the educational support of participants to ensure a comprehensive and supportive learning experience.
Our sustainability goals are closely linked to our educational work. We are committed to "Education for Sustainable Development" (BNE) and work closely with social, cultural, and political organizations to continuously ensure and expand the quality of our offerings. International cooperation and close networking with partners in Europe are further important aspects of our work.
