About the finlit foundation gGmbH
editThe finlit foundation gGmbH, founded in November 2019, is a non-profit initiative of the EOS Group, a company of the Otto Group. The focus of the foundation is on promoting better financial literacy in everyday life and preventing personal over-indebtedness.
Key Products and Services
editThe finlit foundation offers two central educational initiatives:
-
ManoMoneta: This initiative targets children in grades 3 to 6 and aims to raise their awareness of financial topics at an early age. Through innovative, cross-media materials, teachers and schools are supported to convey financial knowledge in a practical way[1][2][3].
-
OhMoney: Specifically aimed at teenagers aged 14 to 17, OhMoney supports teachers in conveying important, everyday-relevant financial topics. Interactive videos and 90-minute lesson units help young people act financially competent and responsibly. OhMoney is a cooperative project with Hanseatic Bank[1].
Main Mission and Values
editThe main mission of the finlit foundation is to contribute to financial education and thus to the prevention of over-indebtedness through social engagement. In Germany, over 5.6 million people are over-indebted, and the foundation sees education as the key to improving this situation. The values of the foundation include promoting educational justice and equal opportunities as well as empowering students to develop into informed and responsible members of society[1][3][4].
Sustainability Goals and Initiatives
editThe finlit foundation is committed to sustainable education by providing all children and young people, regardless of their family background, access to financial education. By collaborating with schools and local actors, the foundation promotes social skills and community cohesion. The materials and programs are designed to include interactive tasks and group work, which strengthen the social skills of students. Particularly in Hamburg, the foundation offers various opportunities for collaboration to make the city a pioneer in solving the problem of insufficient financial literacy[1][3].
Through these initiatives, the finlit foundation makes an important contribution to improving financial literacy and reducing over-indebtedness by acting early and sustainably.
