Fairment – For a Good Gut Feeling and a Fair Society
editAbout Fairment
editFairment, founded in 2015 in Berlin by Leon Benedens and Paul Seelhorst, is an innovative startup dedicated to the tradition of fermentation and bringing it to life in a modern and accessible way. The name Fairment is a combination of the words "Fairness" and "Ferment," which also reflects the company's philosophy.
Key Products and Services
editFairment produces a variety of fermented foods and beverages, including kombucha, sauerkraut, miso, kefir, yogurt, and sourdough. In addition to finished products, the company also offers special fermentation kits and cultures so that customers can make these foods at home. The products are free from additives and pasteurized processes to preserve the live microorganisms essential for gut health and overall well-being[1][3][4].
Mission and Values
editThe main mission of Fairment is to create healthy enjoyment for everyone and to spread knowledge about the health benefits of fermentation. The company emphasizes fair play – not only regarding the environment but also towards customers, suppliers, and its own workforce. Fairment works closely with the Delphin workshops in Berlin, a recognized workshop for people with disabilities, thus supporting personal development and participation in work and community life[1][2][4].
Sustainability Goals and Initiatives
editFairment places great importance on sustainability and inclusion. A portion of the revenue is donated to social projects in the region. The materials used are carefully selected and, whenever possible, sourced in Fairtrade quality. Collaboration with the Delphin workshops is a central element of the corporate strategy and serves as a showcase project for inclusion. Over 100 employees with and without disabilities work together in the production, bottling, and packaging of the products, promoting diversity and social interaction[1][2][4].
Future Perspectives
editFairment aims to bring fermentation into every kitchen and plans to be represented in all organic stores in Germany with at least one product in the future. By utilizing digital and conventional platforms such as blog articles, YouTube, Instagram, and influencer marketing, the company offers free access to knowledge and courses on fermentation and gut health to inspire and empower people to make their own healthy, fermented foods[3].
