About Diakonie in Niedersachsen
editThe Diakonie in Niedersachsen is comprehensively committed to the well-being of children and families. In the Göttingen-Münden church district, over 50 daycare centers and family centers are supported by five Kita associations, employing around 900 people.
The focus of the work is the child with their individual needs and rights. The Diakonie is committed to every child's right to education, upbringing, care, inclusion, religion and participation. The goal is the development of the best possible quality in all facilities.
The pedagogical work is based on the principles for Protestant daycare centers and a specific mission statement that reflects the values and goals of the diaconal work. The facilities are supported by pedagogical management and specialist advice, which provide advice in the areas of child protection, team development, language development, conceptual work and quality management.
A special focus is on the promotion of democracy and diversity. As part of the "Kitas für Demokratie – Vielfalt leben, Hoffnung geben" (Daycare centers for democracy - Living diversity, giving hope) campaign, numerous daycare centers are actively addressing these issues. In addition, dealing with right-wing extremism is addressed in the facilities to ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all children.
The Diakonie in Niedersachsen attaches great importance to early STEM education and education for sustainable development (ESD). Through projects such as "Haus, in dem Kinder forschen" (House where children do research), children are encouraged to discover and explore the world around them. The promotion of children's rights, based on the UN Convention, is also a central concern.
The Diakonie is also committed to environmental protection and sustainability. For example, there are forest kindergarten groups that are supported by fundraising campaigns to plant trees for shading.
The Diakonie in Niedersachsen is always striving to continuously improve the quality of its work and adapt to the changing needs of children and families. This is ensured, among other things, by the certification of daycare centers with the BETA seal of approval from the Bundesverbandes Evangelischer Tageseinrichtungen für Kinder e.V. (Federal Association of Protestant Day Care Centers for Children).
