The Deutsches Herzzentrum der Charité (DHZC) is a leading specialist clinic for cardiovascular diseases in Europe. At the three locations of the Charité (Campus Virchow-Klinikum, Campus Charité Mitte and Campus Benjamin Franklin), patients of all ages with cardiovascular diseases of all degrees of severity are cared for around the clock in interdisciplinary "Heart Teams".

The DHZC covers the entire spectrum of modern cardiovascular medicine, from cardiology, angiology and intensive care medicine to cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgery and the treatment of congenital heart defects. The main focuses include minimally invasive and catheter-based therapies, in particular the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias (ablation) and heart valve diseases (TAVI). The DHZC is one of the world's largest centers for the use of mechanical circulatory support systems ("artificial hearts") and is one of the leading national centers for heart and lung transplants.

The DHZC sees itself as a university center and attaches great importance to excellent research and teaching. The aim is to continuously improve the quality of care in cardiovascular medicine through innovative therapies and technologies. An interdisciplinary team of doctors, psychologists and economists is working to improve the measurement of health from the patient's perspective in order to better understand the treatment results of medical therapies.
