The campaign aims to reform the housing market by expropriating private, profit-oriented real estate companies that own more than 3,000 apartments and transferring them into public ownership. This is to be achieved through the establishment of a public law institution (AöR) that manages the assets with the democratic participation of the urban society, tenants, employees, and the Senate.
The main mission of the initiative is to create a livable city for all and to end the madness of rising rents. Deutsche Wohnen & Co Enteignen is committed to ensuring that profits no longer come at the expense of tenants, but that housing is regarded as a basic right. The initiative is supported by numerous neighborhood teams and working groups that are active in various districts of Berlin and are dedicated to implementing the socialization law.
A central value of the initiative is democratic participation.
