CBM Christoffel-Blindenmission Christian Blind Mission e.V.

The CBM Christoffel-Blindenmission is an international development organization that has been advocating for the rights and opportunities of people with disabilities for over 115 years. Founded by Ernst Jakob Christoffel in 1908, CBM is one of the leading organizations in international development cooperation in Germany. It is recognized as a specialized organization by the World Health Organization (WHO) and has had consultative status with the United Nations (UN) since 2002.

The mission of CBM is to break the cycle of poverty and disability and to create a world where people with disabilities have the same opportunities and rights as everyone else. The organization is based on Christian values, characterized by internationality, professionalism, integrity, communication, and inclusion. These values shape the organizational and work culture of CBM.

CBM offers a variety of services, including:

• Inclusive Eye Health: Prevention and treatment of blindness as well as support for visually impaired people.
• Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs): Combatting and preventing diseases that often affect people in poor regions.
• Community-Based Inclusive Development (CBID): Promoting the social participation of people with disabilities.
• Inclusive Humanitarian Aid (IHA): Emergency assistance and long-term reconstruction in crisis areas, with special consideration for disabled people.

CBM works closely with local partners to develop and implement sustainable solutions. A central goal is to create an inclusive world where people with disabilities are full members of society. The organization advocates for raising awareness among policymakers and the public to promote the concerns of people with disabilities.

CBM operates in 40 countries worldwide and carries out numerous projects to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities. Current projects include the construction of eye clinics, support for the renaturation of natural areas for sustainable agriculture, and the empowerment of women through vocational training.

CBM offers modern, accessible workplaces and flexible working hours. It encourages applications from people with disabilities and provides compensation based on the tariff system of Diakonie Deutschland (AVR) as well as additional company social benefits.
