About Bündnis Entwicklung Hilft
editBündnis Entwicklung Hilft is an alliance of eleven renowned aid organizations that work together for sustainable development and humanitarian assistance. Founded after the tsunami disaster in December 2004, the alliance unites both larger and smaller, religious and secular aid organizations that reflect a cross-section of German society. Members include, among others, Brot für die Welt, Christoffel-Blindenmission, DAHW, German Doctors, Kindernothilfe, medico international, Misereor, Plan International, terre des hommes, Welthungerhilfe, and the associated member Oxfam.
Mission and Values
editThe mission of the alliance is to save lives and alleviate acute need by providing quick and effective assistance in disaster situations. The work is based on the principles of prevention, partnership collaboration, long-term aid, consolidated experience, and development policy commitment. The alliance is committed to combating the causes of hunger, poverty, and violence, and to preventing new crises. Special emphasis is placed on involving those affected to ensure needs-based and sustainable assistance.
Key Products and Services
editBündnis Entwicklung Hilft offers both short-term and long-term support in crisis and disaster situations. The organization is primarily active in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, promoting the recovery of food and livelihood security as well as the establishment of health and education facilities. Through close cooperation with local partners, it is ensured that assistance reaches where it is most urgently needed.
Sustainability Goals and Initiatives
editSustainability is a central component of the alliance's work. Even in the phase of acute crisis management, preparations are made for later rehabilitation and development projects. The alliance promotes the recovery of independence and the creation of viable structures to strengthen the resilience of affected communities. Another concern is public relations work in Germany to convey a realistic picture of need and crises and to make the causes of disasters visible.
Transparency and Accountability
editAll organizations represented in the alliance and the alliance itself carry the DZI donation seal, which guarantees transparent and efficient use of donations. Administrative costs are financed through the membership fees of the aid organizations, ensuring that donations flow unabridged to the projects. The members of the alliance provide annual accountability for the use of funds and report on the status and success of the aid measures.
Bündnis Entwicklung Hilft stands for assistance that is independent of the security policy motives of governments and is clearly oriented towards the needs of the victims. Support our work – every contribution helps to support people in need and to bring about sustainable change.
