Bundesausschuss politische Bildung

The Bundesausschuss Politische Bildung (bap) e.V. is an association of 30 nationwide organizations and institutions dedicated to extracurricular political education for youth and adults. Our goal is to promote this field of expertise and represent its interests.

• Networking and Professionalization: The bap e.V. serves as a cross-provider networking platform and advocates for the qualification and professionalization of political education work[2][4].
• Working Groups and Projects: We operate various working groups, such as "Promotion of Political Education by the Federal Agency for Civic Education", "Fundamental Questions of Political Education", and "Global Political Education". Additionally, we carry out various projects focused on strengthening democracy and promoting political participation[2][4].
• Publications and Events: We publish the "Journal for Political Education" and organize the "Federal Congress on Political Education" to promote professional discourse in the extracurricular education scene[2][4].

The main mission of the bap e.V. is to empower young people and adults to engage in democratic action and to promote international cooperation. We advocate for the strengthening of democracy and social cohesion, especially in times of crises and the rise of extremist forces. Our work is guided by the principles of political maturity, political self-determination, and the recognition of democratic fundamental rights and human rights standards[1][5].

• Promotion of Political Education: We fight for secure structures and framework conditions for political youth and adult education to ensure their sustainability and further development[1][3].
• Inclusive and Discrimination-Critical Perspective: Our work is characterized by a racism- and discrimination-critical, inclusive perspective. We support the formation of alliances and interconnected solidarity among different groups and create safe spaces for people affected by discrimination[5].
• Participatory Approaches: We promote participatory approaches that involve young people more in the planning and implementation of educational offerings to better address their concerns and needs[3].

• #strengthenpoliticaleducation: Under this motto, we collect messages and statements from our members to highlight the importance of political education in times of budget cuts[4].
• Aesthetic Approaches: We discuss and promote aesthetic approaches such as images, games, comics, and theater to convey socio-political topics in innovative ways[4].

The bap e.V. is a central actor in extracurricular political education in Germany, tirelessly working to strengthen democracy and promote political education. Through our diverse activities and initiatives, we contribute to ensuring that young people and adults engage critically with socio-political issues and can form independent judgments.
