editThe Bundesanstalt für Geowissenschaften und Rohstoffe (BGR) is a central geoscientific advisory institution of the federal government, which is subordinate to the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). With its headquarters in Hanover and branches in Berlin and Cottbus, the BGR, together with other institutions, forms the GEOZENTRUM HANNOVER.

- International Cooperation: It is engaged in international cooperation, particularly in development cooperation and the implementation of EU regulations.

Sustainability Goals and Initiatives
editThe BGR places great importance on Sustainability. It analyzes the ecological, social, and economic aspects of raw material extraction and develops strategies for responsible raw material use. The BGR also supports Due Diligence in supply chains and promotes Raw Material Efficiency.
Through its research and consulting, the BGR contributes to securing public services while protecting the environment. Its work is closely linked to the German Raw Materials Agency (DERA), which is also part of the BGR and advises the German economy on issues of raw material supply.
