The Biodiversity Foundation is a dedicated organization that focuses on the protection of biodiversity and the fight against global species extinction. In a time when we are experiencing the largest extinction event since the extinction of the dinosaurs, the foundation is committed to preserving biodiversity as the basis for humanity's survival.

The Biodiversity Foundation initiates and supports a variety of projects that focus on the conservation and restoration of habitats. A prominent project is the “Urwaldriesen” Initiative, a sustainable reforestation project in the Peruvian rainforest that is committed to protecting climate and biodiversity in the long term. In addition, the foundation is involved in the re-naturalization of areas in Germany to provide new habitats for endangered bird species.

Another significant project is the “VIELFALT 2030” Initiative, which was launched in collaboration with Bionade GmbH. The goal is to make a total of 17 million square meters of green space more insect-friendly by 2030 to promote biodiversity in Germany.

The mission of the Biodiversity Foundation is to raise awareness of the importance of biodiversity and to take concrete actions to stop species extinction. The foundation firmly believes that the preservation of biodiversity is crucial for the future of humanity. Its values are based on sustainability, collaboration, and the conviction that every species – whether small or large – is worth protecting.

The Biodiversity Foundation is a partner of the Federal Garden Show 2023 and presents the 17 sustainability goals of the UN there, with a special focus on Goal No. 15 “Life on Land.” Under the guiding principle “We are all connected,” the importance of preserving biodiversity for human life is emphasized.

Another important concern of the foundation is the “Petition for Species Protection in the Basic Law”, which aims to legally enshrine the protection of biodiversity in Germany. This initiative has already mobilized over 110,000 supporters.

To raise awareness of the urgency of species protection, the Biodiversity Foundation is producing an international feature film on the topic of species extinction. The film follows conservationists worldwide and highlights issues such as overfishing, energy transition, poaching, and habitat destruction.

The Biodiversity Foundation is a driving force in the fight against species extinction and is passionately and determinedly committed to the preservation of biodiversity. Through its diverse projects and initiatives, it actively contributes to securing a sustainable future for generations to come.
