About BioBalkan
editBioBalkan is an initiative of the Vienna-based Balkan Express Handels GmbH, which aims to connect the best organic specialties from the Balkan countries of Serbia, North Macedonia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina with discerning consumers in the EU. Our range includes award-winning delicacies made from traditional recipes and simple, high-quality ingredients. Our special products include authentic Ajvar from Serbia and exquisite Macedonian nut pastes, offered in organic quality.
Mission and Values
editOur mission is to promote the culinary diversity of the Balkans while fostering fair partnerships with local producers. We focus on transparent sourcing and support organic farming as well as the employment of socially disadvantaged individuals. We align ourselves with the Sustainable Development Goals to make a positive contribution to society and the environment.
Sustainability Goals and Initiatives
editSustainability is at the heart of our corporate philosophy. We promote ecological cultivation and sustainable production of our products. An example of this is our organic almonds from the region around Lake Dojran in North Macedonia, which have been grown according to the principles of organic farming since 2003. Additionally, we rely on renewable energies and continuously work to improve our environmental balance.
Product Variety
editOur delicatessen offers a wide range of products, including savory spreads, fruit spreads, nuts, nut pastes, and much more. Our organic hazelnuts and almonds are particularly popular, as they are excellent for various recipes. We also offer special gift packages like the "Balkan Sixpack," which contains a selection of our best products.
Culinary Inspiration
editBioBalkan inspires not only through its products but also through culinary literature such as "The Balkan Kitchen" by Irina Janakievska, which explores the diverse flavors and traditions of the Balkan region. Our journal also regularly provides new recipes and ideas on how to bring the tastes of the Balkans into your own kitchen.
Engagement and Community
editAt BioBalkan, we place great value on interaction with our community. Although we do not seek the spotlight, we are always eager to consider the wishes and suggestions of our customers. Our commitment has been recognized in various media, including an interview on COSMO-Radio of WDR, where we discuss organic farming and organic food from the Balkan region.
BioBalkan stands for quality, sustainability, and a love for the culinary tradition of the Balkans. We invite you to discover the variety and taste of our products and to become part of our mission to bring the best organic specialties of the Balkans to the world.
