About Barbos Stiftung
editThe Barbos Stiftung for the creative development support of children and adolescents is a non-profit organization founded in 2007 by Barbara Osterwald. The foundation is dedicated to supporting children and adolescents who must cope with psychological or social challenges. Through creative therapeutic approaches, particularly art therapy and work on the Tonfeld®, the foundation offers these young people the opportunity to process their experiences and integrate into society.
Key Products and Services
editA central element of the foundation's work is the work on the Tonfeld®, a unique therapeutic method developed by Prof. Heinz Deuser. This method uses clay to provide children and adolescents access to their inner feelings and experiences through touch and shaping. The work on the Tonfeld® promotes the self-perception and social behavior of participants and is recognized as effective by educators and teachers.
Another important offering of the foundation is art therapy, which particularly helps refugee children process traumatic experiences. Through creative creation, children can express their emotions and find a way to cope with their experiences, even if they do not yet master the German language.
Mission and Values
editThe mission of the Barbos Stiftung is to help children and adolescents who are psychologically burdened or socially disoriented to lead a more conflict-free and balanced life through creative therapeutic forms. The foundation places great importance on the emotional and social development of children and adolescents and strives to give them the opportunity to better integrate into the community.
Sustainability Goals and Initiatives
editThe Barbos Stiftung is actively engaged in refugee assistance and has initiated numerous projects since the refugee wave in 2015 to provide therapeutic support to refugee children and adolescents. The foundation relies on donations to further expand its programs and help even more children.
Commitment and Recognition
editThe foundation has received several awards for its commitment, including the Ellen Ammann Prize in 2017 and the German Engagement Award in 2013. These recognitions underscore the importance and effectiveness of the work of the Barbos Stiftung in society.
Support Opportunities
editThe Barbos Stiftung offers various ways to support, including donations and participation in funding programs. Through partnerships with schools and daycare centers in Munich and the surrounding area, the foundation's work is spread widely and reaches many children who can benefit from the creative therapeutic approaches.
The Barbos Stiftung is a shining example of the positive impact that creative therapeutic forms can have on the lives of children and adolescents. With its commitment, the foundation helps young people to realize their potential and lead a fulfilling life.
