Arekapak GmbH, founded in 2019, is an innovative startup based in Berlin that specializes in the development and production of sustainable product packaging made from the leaves of the Areca palm. The founders Nicole and Alexandra, who met during their communication design studies and a semester abroad in India, work closely with their Indian partner Babu to create these revolutionary packages.

Arekapak produces packaging that is made entirely from the leaves of the Areca palm, an agricultural byproduct that is harvested in India without deforestation. These packages are 100% natural and compostable, making them an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional plastic packaging. The packaging is characterized by its natural, wood-like aesthetic and is oven-, microwave-safe, and suitable for storage in the refrigerator or freezer[1][2][5].

The mission of Arekapak is to provide sustainable packaging solutions that are both functional and environmentally friendly. The company is committed to promoting sustainable practices and strives to avoid using chemical additives in its processing. By utilizing fallen palm leaves, it ensures that no trees need to be cut down for production, and energy consumption in the pressing process remains low[1].
