Andersraum e.V.

The Andersraum e.V. is a grassroots organization that has served as a roof for queer communities in Hannover since 2011. Founded through the engagement and ideas of many different people, the association has continuously developed and continues to grow through the activities of its volunteer and full-time members.

• Group Offers: In the Andersraum and the Queer Youth Center QueerUnity, over 40 groups meet regularly to promote a diverse community. These groups include self-help groups, such as the Trans*parenz group and the DIS self-help group, as well as social gatherings like the game afternoon for gay men and the poly meet for people living non-monogamously[2].
• Consultation Services: The Andersraum offers comprehensive consultation services for gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans*, inter*, and queer people. These consultations cover topics of gender identity and health[2].
• Training and Workshops: Various training and workshop formats are offered that deal with queer topics and provide opportunities for further education[2].

The main mission of Andersraum e.V. is to provide queer people with a safe and supportive space where they can live freely and self-determined. • Christopher Street Day (CSD) Hannover: The association is the sole organizer of CSD Hannover, one of the largest demonstrations for democracy and human rights in Hannover, and promotes visibility and acceptance of queer lifestyles through this event[5].
