Agrar Koordination

Agrar Koordination, a non-profit organization based in Hamburg, has been committed for over 40 years to a sustainable agriculture and climate-friendly diet. Our goal is to ensure that all people can be healthily nourished today and in the future, that poverty is overcome worldwide, and that our natural livelihoods are preserved in the long term.

• Educational Work: As part of the youth education project Biopoli, we provide qualified speakers on topics such as global agricultural trade, pesticide use, and sustainable agriculture to schools, youth groups, and other organizations[3].
• Political Work: We engage intensively with the aspects of EU agricultural policy and its impacts on agriculture and climate protection. This includes preparatory seminars and position papers that contain demands to the EU for the implementation of sustainable agricultural and food policy[2][4].
• Campaigns and Initiatives: We conduct campaigns to promote a sustainable food system and fair agricultural policy in Germany, Europe, and worldwide. A focus is on combating unfair trading practices and strengthening the negotiating positions of farmers[5].

Our mission is to promote a just and sustainable agriculture that considers social, ecological, and economic aspects. We advocate for the rights of farmers and work towards ensuring that all people have access to healthy and fair food. Our values include solidarity, sustainability, and fairness in the global food chain.

• Agricultural Ecology: We promote agroecological production methods as a sustainable alternative to industrial agriculture. In collaboration with other organizations, we have created a comprehensive position paper that contains demands to the EU to support agroecology[2].
• Climate Protection: Through our work on EU agricultural and climate policy, we aim to minimize the impacts of agriculture on the climate and promote climate-friendly practices.
• Market Justice: We are committed to improving market policy to combat unfair trading practices and strengthen the negotiating positions of farmers. This includes initiatives such as the Agricultural Organization and Supply Chain Act (AgrarOLKG), which has been in effect since 2021 and is to be sharpened[2].

Through our diverse activities and initiatives, we continuously work to establish a fair, sustainable, and future-oriented agriculture and diet.
