    Call for Applications 2025

    The Leibniz Institute of Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research (IPK) in Gatersleben, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany and the Association for the Promotion of Crop Plant Research Gatersleben e.V., are pleased to announce the seventh Call for Applications for the Visiting Program for master and PhD students from Transition Countries in Europe. The joint program will allow young scientists a research stay at the internationally renowned IPK, member of the Leibniz Association and the largest plant research center in Europe, for three to six months.     Prerequisites for applicants

    Applicants should have a basic to advanced scientific background (M.Sc. or Ph.D. students) and a strong interest in the fields of plant genetics, physiology, taxonomy, chromosome biology or bioinformatics and a good command of the English language.

    Requirements for the application

    For your application as citizen of one of the following transition countries please provide a full CV, professional certificates, publications and a cover letter describing your motivation, your scientific interests and potential ideas for a working program at the IPK.

    Transition Countries are:

    • Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania
    • Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland
    • Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Slovenia, Serbia
    • Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine

    Evaluation process

    Please submit your full application to ****@ip*-***********en.de before 28. February 2025, which will then be evaluated by a panel composed of scientists of the IPK and the Fördergemeinschaft (friends’ association).

    Accommodation

    The program covers travel expenses (up to 1,000 EUR) to Gatersleben and back to your home affiliation. During your stay at IPK, you will receive a regular employment contract and a salary corresponding to your present status (M.Sc. or PhD student). IPK can offer apartments in its guesthouse according to availability at its own expense or will assist in finding accommodation outside the institute.
