The role:

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Automotive/AV Technician to join our Vay team in Berlin, Germany to support the bring up, maintenance and service of our vehicles and tele-stations fleet.

Working closely with the Lead of PSC (Pre-Series Center)  and Product Quality and a talented team of engineers and technicians, you will contribute to maintaining Vay’s high safety and quality standards while supporting innovative transportation technology. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work hands-on with cutting-edge systems in a fast-paced, tech-driven environment

Responsibilities:

Maintenance and Repairs:

• Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on Vay’s fleet of teleoperated vehicles and Teledrive Stations.
• Diagnose and repair hardware and software issues on vehicles and associated systems.
• Assist with the integration and testing of new hardware or software updates to ensure system readiness.

Bring up operations:

• Perform assemblies of mechanical and electronic components, as well as work on harnesses and sensor/perception systems, during new vehicles and tele-stations bring up
• Conduct hardware inspections, ensure product quality and complete bring-up documentation
• Ensure traceability of components after bring-up and service, using the company ERP system

Operational Readiness:

• Perform detailed inspections to ensure vehicles and Teledrive Stations in the fleet meet operational safety and quality standards.
• Prepare vehicles and systems for demonstrations, testing, and commercial operations.

Compliance and Quality Assurance:

• Maintain adherence to safety standards, industry regulations, and company protocols.
• Document work performed, including maintenance logs, inspection reports, and diagnostic findings.

Workshop Support:

• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workshop environment.
• Ensure tools and equipment are properly stored and in good working condition.

Collaboration:

The profile:

• Minimum 5 years of experience as vehicle technician
• Hands-on experience in road vehicles (ideally AVs) assembly, maintenance, diagnostics, or repair.
• Extensive knowledge of methods, techniques, parts, tools, and materials used in the maintenance and repair of vehicles
• Good understanding of hardware and software systems used in modern vehicles.
• Strong technical problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to evolving priorities: Available to travel on short notice, working on holidays and overtime
• Diagnostic troubleshooting experience with OEM systems is a plus: high-level experience working with HV systems and hybrid drivetrains, CAN/LIN, HVAC, cooling, chassis, and suspension.
• Passion for technology and a desire to work on innovative transportation solutions.
• Ideally, previous experience with Jira and Fleetio
• Ideally, previous experience with KIA OEM services
