Intro
South Pole is seeking a Regional Lead Counsel for LATAM to join their global Legal and Compliance team. The role involves acting as a legal business partner for the Certificates and Advisory business lines in LATAM, providing legal support to stakeholders, managing legal aspects of carbon projects, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The ideal candidate should have at least 6 years of experience, be licensed to practice law in Colombia, fluent in Spanish and English, and have expertise in reviewing, preparing, and negotiating contracts. The position offers the opportunity to make a real difference in the fight against climate change within a dynamic and international organization.
Tasks
- Draft and review various commercial contracts
- Lead contract negotiations with counterparties
- Manage legal aspects of international carbon projects
- Provide legal support to stakeholders
- Support due diligence of carbon projects
- Carry out legal research
- Identify legal risks and propose solutions
- Advise on legal issues and compliance
- Contribute to improvement of agreements and processes
Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience in a major law firm
- Licensed to practice law in Colombia
- Fluent in Spanish and English
- Experience in reviewing, preparing, and negotiating contracts
- Ability to lead projects and manage outside counsel
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines
