PhD Researcher*in (f/m/d) on Valorizing Ecosystem Services with AI Technologies
The mission of the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF) is to deliver solutions for sustainable agriculture. ZALF is located in Müncheberg, about 35 minutes from Berlin-Lichtenberg.
We are seeking a PhD researcher for the projects 'KICS-ZERT' and 'DAKIS.' KICS-ZERT focuses on AI-supported monitoring of biodiversity projects, while DAKIS aims to enhance agricultural knowledge systems using AI.
The PhD research will involve developing business models and policies supporting biodiversity assessments with AI.
This position is within the working group ‘Governance of Ecosystem Services,’ focusing on governance approaches for ecosystem services and biodiversity objectives.
We offer a 65% position for 48 months, with the possibility of a 12-month extension. The role starts in February 2025.
Your tasks:
- Participation in two research projects
- Developing own research design for analyzing AI technologies
- Conducting literature reviews
- Collecting empirical data through interviews and surveys
- Analyzing quantitative data using statistical software
- Preparing results for stakeholders and scientific community
Your qualifications:
- Master’s degree in environmental or agricultural economics or related fields
- Strong statistical skills
- Experience with experimental surveys is advantageous
- Knowledge of biodiversity monitoring technologies is a plus
- Strong organizational skills
- Fluency in German and English
- Interest in conducting a doctoral thesis in an interdisciplinary team
