PhD Position in Bio-Economic Modeling of Agroforestry, Agrivoltaics, and Sustainable Agriculture Systems (f/m/d) 108-2024
The successful candidate will:
- collect data on various agricultural production systems including biochar applications, Agri-PV and AF.
- apply and further develop of the bio-economic modeling system MODAM
- conduct integrated economic and ecosystem services analysis of Agri-PV and AF systems within a whole-farm context
- analyze the potential of new production systems in a regional context
- develop policy recommendations through scenario analysis with MODAM
The candidate should have the following profile:
- a completed master's degree in agricultural economics, environmental economics, or a related field
- good background in bio-economic modelling and optimization techniques
- good background in mathematical programming in GAMS for model development
- excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams
- strong interest in scientific writing and excellent command of English and German
- as an international research organisation based in Germany, we require good to very good written and spoken English and a willingness to participate in in-house German language training
