Intro
The Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Expert in the Water and Sanitation Sector plays a crucial role in supporting water and sanitation investments at the utility level in various countries. The expert will be responsible for conducting technical reviews, identifying gaps in O&M procedures, supporting infrastructure planning, developing training systems, and implementing maintenance and repair strategies. Qualifications include a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, strong knowledge of water utility operations, asset management expertise, and the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams. Proficiency in English is required, and knowledge of French is desirable. Tasks
- Conduct comprehensive technical review of utility infrastructure
- Identify gaps in existing O&M procedures and define capacity development measures
- Support technical infrastructure planning promoting gender balance and community participation
- Develop and implement modular training system
- Review and update Public Service Agreements
- Support procurement of equipment for O&M measures
- Support asset management and maintenance for water supply systems
- Establish a team for repair and maintenance
- Develop asset management and maintenance plan
- Support development and update of O&M manuals
- Utilize technical databases and software applications
Requirements
- Minimum 8 years of experience as Water Supply/Wastewater Engineer with focus on O&M processes
- Strong knowledge of water utility operations and performance improvement
- Proven record in asset management and preventive maintenance
- Experience in capacity development related to O&M processes
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
- Engineering degree in a relevant field
- Excellent command of written and oral English, proficiency in French is desirable
