The Horizon Lab programme supports EIT Urban Mobility (EIT UM) partners in identifying and accessing non-EIT funding opportunities for research and innovation activities in the field of mobility, such as Horizon Europe and Digital Europe. It also manages EIT UM’s participation in Horizon Europe and other European open innovation projects.
The Mobility Data Expert will report to the Head of Horizon Lab for day-to-day line management and focus primarily on implementing EIT Urban Mobility’s contributions to projects funded by Horizon Europe, Digital Europe, and other programmes.
This role is ideal for an experienced professional with a strategic mindset and deep expertise in mobility data. The selected person will play a critical role in shaping EIT Urban Mobility’s position in this field by:
- Contributing to positioning EIT Urban Mobility in the broader mobility and data ecosystem.
- Supporting the identification and engagement with strategic partners.
- Representing EIT Urban Mobility and offering expert insights at events, panels, and other fora.
Main tasks and responsibilities include:
- Ensure quality implementation of EIT UM’s tasks in European projects e.g. prepare deliverables, achieve milestones, complete technical reports for the relevant funding programme.
- Prepare and manage open and transparent calls for activity selection e.g. cascading activities in coordination and with support from EIT UM’s project management office and other areas.
- Oversee and monitor progress of projects and other activities in the field of mobility data and data spaces.
- Lead and manage meetings, workshops and knowledge transfer activities and ensure alignment with organisations and relevant EU entities.
- Design and implement, with the support of communications and the marketing team, strategic communication and dissemination activities in European projects.
- Advise EIT Urban Mobility’s areas on the identification of key strategic partners and collaborations in the field of mobility data.
- Prepare and present analyses from data related projects that inform decision making and in alignment with relevant European and national policies.
- Contribute actively to the Horizon Lab team by sharing learnings and insights gained from projects under implementation.
What you will bring along the way:
An ideal candidate will strive to generate positive environmental and social impact in line with EIT Urban Mobility’s mission.
Must-have:
- At least 10 years of working experience, with at least 3 years involving the development and implementation of European projects.
- Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant field e.g. data science, engineering, urban planning, political science, information systems, law.
- Solid knowledge of relevant European policies and programmes e.g. Digital Strategy, European strategy for data, Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy, particularly central concepts of data spaces and the development of common European data spaces.
- Good understanding of data-driven applications and digital transformation for smart and sustainable urban mobility in Europe.
- Written and spoken English (C1).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with proven experience managing multi-stakeholder initiatives, ideally including regular communication with the European Commission.

Kindly note that this is a permanent full-time position, and can be based in Barcelona, Munich or Brussels.
Possibility to homework 2 days a week.
