Intro
The Manager, Peace and Conflict Sensitivity at Conservation International is responsible for advancing conflict sensitivity and environmental peacebuilding goals within the organization. The role involves providing strategic guidance, delivering training, managing awareness-raising initiatives, representing CI at conferences, fundraising, and overseeing project implementation. The position requires a Bachelor's Degree, 4-6 years of related work experience, excellent communication skills, capacity-building and facilitation skills, project management experience, and proficiency in English. Preferred qualifications include understanding of economic and environmental issues in developing countries, ability to work effectively with diverse groups, strong computer skills, and proficiency in additional languages such as French, Spanish, or Portuguese.
Tasks
- Lead the Environmental Peacebuilding Initiative and outreach to staff and partners
- Provide technical and strategic input for training materials on peace and conflict-sensitive conservation
- Manage awareness-raising and outreach meetings
- Represent the organization at conferences and workshops
- Serve as fundraising manager for donor proposals
- Deliver technical guidance on social inclusion and peace issues
- Ensure operational goals are managed effectively
- Design and deliver communications products with a conflict sensitivity lens
- Function as a key project information source and advisor
- Oversee project implementation and provide technical advice
- Monitor project progress and identify corrective actions
- Manage preparation of reporting summaries and narratives
- Collaborate on fundraising strategy and donor development
- Provide guidance to interns and temporary employees on research tasks
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or up to four years of college-level work
- 4-6 years of related work experience in peacebuilding, international development, stakeholder engagement, and social and environmental safeguards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Capacity-building and facilitation skills
- Project management experience
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Team player with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
- Proficiency in English
- Ability to work well under pressure and deliver quality results
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
- Preferred understanding of economic and environmental issues in developing countries
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Additional language proficiency preferred (e.g., French, Spanish, Portuguese)
