The Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC) in the Helmholtz Association is an international biomedical research center dedicated to understanding the molecular mechanisms of health and disease with the goal to devise new diagnostics and medicines. The Communications Department of the Max Delbrück Center acts as a bridge between our research center and the public. We want to make the research and discoveries of our scientists transparent and comprehensible, our values and our knowledge process understandable and our research results visible and tangible for the public. Our aim is to share knowledge, create transparency and trust and ultimately, where possible, enable direct implementation - for example in schools. At the same time, we actively seek a dialog within society. We pay particular attention to the target groups in schools.
As a knowledge transfer advisor (m/w/d), you will be responsible for the Max Delbrück Center's knowledge transfer formats. You will work closely with colleagues in the communications department and with researchers.
Job Description
- Conception, coordination and implementation of outreach formats for teachers and students by the Max Delbrück Center (Lab meets Teacher/interface with the Life Science Learning Lab (Gläsernes Labor)/ MINT-EC, Jugend forscht/ Girl's Day) in cooperation with the stakeholders at our research center
- Coordination and organization of events for the general public, in particular the Long Night of Science and Berlin Science Week as well as similar formats
- Supervision of other knowledge transfer projects, in particular on art and science
- Collaboration, consulting and training of researchers for knowledge transfer
- Development of a concept to strengthen the dialog with citizens and the participation of patients
Requirements
- University degree in biology, medicine or a related scientific discipline and/or in the field of communication science/science communication
- Very good understanding of molecular biomedical research
- Proven knowledge and experience in science communication/knowledge transfer
- Knowledge of the school and extracurricular educational landscape, and experience in dealing with its stakeholders, especially in Berlin and Brandenburg
- Ability to prepare complex biomedical content for different target groups and convey it in an appealing way
- Strong communication skills, ability to work in a team and innovative spirit
- Ideally expertise in the knowledge transfer funding landscape and experience in acquiring third-party funding
- Very good knowledge of written and spoken English and German
