    Junior Group Leader for Microbiome Research (f/m/d)

    Leibniz Research Centre for Working Environment and Human Factors (IfADo), Dortmund

    ‘Forschungsgesellschaft für Arbeitsphysiologie und Arbeitsschutz e.V. Dortmund’ (legal entity name) is a research institution institutionally funded by the German Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is the sponsor of ’Leibniz Research Centre for Working Environment and Human Factors at TU Dortmund’ (IfADo). IfADo explores the risks and potentials of modern work in interdisciplinary approaches. We combine the disciplines of Ergonomics, Immunology, Toxicology, Psychology and Neurosciences.

    A new junior research group is to be set up to further strengthen the Department for Immunology and to enhance the networking between the departments.

    We are recruiting for the next possible starting date

    a Junior Group Leader for Microbiome Research (f/m/d)

    The position is initially limited to 4 years and can be made permanent once appropriate performance targets have been achieved.

    Your Tasks:

    • The junior research group will continue to build bridges between immunology and the other departments at the institute (e.g. toxicology, behavioral and/or neurosciences).
    • Possible interactions between the (gut) microbiome and the immune system, the liver or neurological or cognitive processes (gut-liver-brain axis) should be investigated in preferably human-experimental research approaches for the investigation and characterization of the microbiome. The research questions should also be applicable to occupational science topics.

    Your Profile:

    • PhD in immunology, biology, medicine or related disciplines
    • Several years of experience as a postdoctoral researcher with corresponding publication record and experience in acquiring third-party funding
    • Initial research success in a topic relevant to the junior research group is desirable
    • Communication and teamwork skills as well as above-average commitment
    • Good written and spoken English skills
    • The applicant should be able to independently and autonomously establish and lead a research group

    We Offer:

    • A fulltime position with currently 39,83 hours per week
    • Remuneration according to the collective agreement for the public service of the federal states (position value EG 13 TV-L. The classification depends on the collective agreement and personal requirements)

    • An exciting task and the opportunity for further training and qualification (habilitation). Modern laboratory and office space, material and investment resources as well as funds for employees are available for the junior research group. Our institute has an excellent infrastructure for immunological, cell biological, cognitive and neurological studies, which can be used by the junior research group
