Intro
The Institute for Strategic Dialogue-US (ISD-US) is seeking a Part-Time Intern, Threat Analysis to support their work on understanding extremist threat trends and detecting real-world, ideologically-motivated threats across the United States. The intern will assist in tracking extremist activities, researching extremist movements, and producing written outputs for partners and the public. The role involves identifying and classifying potential threats, supporting analysts in monitoring extremist groups, researching offline extremist activity, and assisting with maintaining dashboards and trackers. The ideal candidate should have expertise in disinformation, extremism, or hate speech, knowledge of US political issues, experience with relevant technologies and methodologies, and proficiency in social listening tools.
Tasks
- Identifying and classifying potential online and offline threats
- Supporting analysts in tracking and monitoring extremism groups
- Researching and recording incidents of offline extremist activity
- Supporting threat analysis team in drafting written outputs
- Assisting with maintenance of dashboards and trackers
- Performing recording/notetaking during meetings
- Other administrative duties as assigned
Requirements
- Subject matter expertise in disinformation, extremism, or hate speech
- Knowledge of US political issues and election cycle
- Experience using relevant technologies and methodologies for online trend analysis
- Proficiency with social listening tools
- Experience with public speaking and stakeholder engagement
