Intro
Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is seeking an Intern/Student with a Master's Thesis option to investigate Wind Propulsion Design System at Fraunhofer IWES in Germany. The role involves developing a simulation model in MATLAB/Simulink for the wind propulsion system with boundary layer suction, focusing on suction sail technology. The position requires knowledge of Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, CAD software (Siemens NX), and programming in MATLAB/Simulink. Fluency in English or German is essential for this role. The internship is for 3 months with a possibility of extension as a student assistant with the option to complete a master thesis.
Tasks
- Investigate the system design of the wind propulsion system with boundary layer suction
- Focus on the design of the suction sail technology
- Develop a comprehensive simulation model in MATLAB/Simulink
- Perform a parametric study of the design criteria for the system
Requirements
- Studying Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a similar subject in a master’s program
- Initial knowledge of CAD software, especially Siemens NX
- Programming skills in MATLAB and Simulink
- Fluency in English or German
