Your mission
Hours: Full-time 100% (39 hours per week) Starting date: As soon as possible
Duration: Limited contract for two years with possibility of extension
Location: Berlin
Department: Reporting to Head of Regional Peace Support Department
Staff Supervision
-
Personnel management of Unit staff, including staff development and support, annual appraisals, and conflict management mechanisms, if needed.
Project support
- Supervise, support and guide project implementation
- Ensure coordination and coherence within Unit
- Provide regional and/or thematic expertise and analysis for project teams
- Explore and assess new project ideas and/or requests
- Strategic communication to project donors
- Utilize and build networks in the region in support of project implementation
Strategic Development and Communication
- Strategic fundraising for the Unit
- Strategic networking for the Unit
- Representation of Unit within and outside BFO (partners, donors, peers, etc.)
- Overall responsibility for the development of concept notes and project proposals
- Any further relevant tasks delegated by the Head of Department
Your knowledge, experience & skills
- A degree in peace or conflict studies or a related field (M.A.)
- A substantial track record of working in and on the region
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience
- Expertise on conflict transformation, (insider) mediation, dialogue & peace process support
- A proven track record in leading cohesive teams
- Extensive experience in managing budgets
- Strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to apply them within a work context
- Flexibility and adaptability to challenging situations, ability to work under pressure
- Excellent verbal and written language skills in English; German and a further language of the region considered a plus
