Tasks

- Lead research and advocacy engagements with German-language targets.
- Build relationships with donors and financial prospects in partnership with the German Development Director.
- Carry out other duties as required by the CAO.
- Serve as a leader to local and international HRW staff in the Berlin office.
- Act as an HRW representative in corporate governance matters for the local entity.
- Authorize payments and sign relevant documents as needed.
- Support information sharing with office staff on organizational developments.
- Represent HRW Germany in relation to the HRW Germany Works Council.
- Build and maintain an inclusive environment by holding regular staff meetings.
- Liaise with Global Human Resources and the HRW Germany Works Council in serious matters.
- Serve as the main point of contact during security situations.
Requirements
- A graduate degree in international relations, journalism, law, social sciences or equivalent work experience.
- A minimum of ten years of policy advocacy work experience.
- Substantial knowledge of the Federal Government of Germany and direct experience performing policy advocacy with these bodies.
- Significant human rights experience and expertise.
- Effective public speaker with excellent speaking, writing, and editing skills in English and German.
- Good judgment and excellent analytical and strategic-thinking capabilities.
- Ability to work quickly and effectively under pressure and juggle multiple tasks.
- Strong coordination skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
