Your tasks
- management of large multi-omics datasets and of big data processing (high volume, parallelism, format conversion)
- maintaining and adapting existing analytical scripts and pipelines
- developing new pipelines and software
- responding to bioinformatics or IT related requests from other members of the Institute
- keeping up to date with new data releases, tools and methodological advances in the field and feed back to Institute members through presentations and briefings
- conveying complex IT and bioinformatic updates in a clear fashion, both orally and in written form
Your profile
- Advanced degree (PhD or MS) in a quantitative field such as Bioinformatics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines
- Proficiency in *NIX environments, bash scripting, and high-performance computing and familiarity in using job schedulers (e.g., Slurm, OpenPBS, Grid Engine)
- Expertise in at least one programming language (Python preferred, or R/Java) for package development and maintenance
- Practical experience with statistics, machine learning, and related tools/libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, caret, GLM, RF, boosting)
- Familiarity with bioinformatics resources (e.g., Ensembl, GWAS Catalog) and statistical genetics tools/analyses (e.g., plink, GCTA, asscociation, heritability)
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience with workflow management systems (e.g., Snakemake, Nextflow) and containerization software (e.g., Docker)
- Strong communication skills, with fluency in spoken and written English
