Our mission is to contribute to a more sustainable world through science, research, and policy advice. We achieve this through national and international projects. Our work is driven by national and international projects for prestigious clients, including the European Commission, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the German Environment Agency (UBA), and various foundations. In many research projects, the institute cooperates with partners in Germany and abroad.
As part of our dedicated and skilled Finance Team, you'll play a key role in equipping our institute and its projects with essential data—contributing directly to the success of our mission.
Your responsibilities:
- You provide the institute's management with meaningful reports, key figures, and analyses.
- You work closely with project controlling to optimize financial oversight.
- You design budgeting, planning, and forecasting mechanisms for a dynamic project environment.
- You define the requirements for data provisioning ("Requirement Engineering").
- You are responsible for the operation and steering of the further development of our data architecture ("Data Engineering").
- You model and visualize data using Excel and Power BI and advise end-users on visualization and interpretation.
- You ensure data integrity and consistency in close collaboration with the IT team and our data stewards.
Your profile:
- A degree in business administration, business informatics, or a comparable field
- At least 3 years of professional experience in controlling
- Solid experience in data consolidation, processing, and management
- Very good skills in Excel (Power Pivot, Power Query) and Power BI
- Experience with SQL and ideally with Tableau Prep
- Excellent communication skills in German and English (spoken and written)
- Strong communication skills, team spirit, and a process oriented mindset
