Intro
The GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel is seeking a competent and experienced chemical-technical assistant to support a wide range of analytical chemistry and marine natural products chemistry/biotechnology tasks.
Tasks
- Generation of crude extracts from various marine (micro)biological material
- Chemical analysis, including the dereplication of the crude extracts and fractions obtained therefrom by hyphenated techniques such as HPLC-DAD/MS, UPLC-QTOF-MS/MS, UPLC-QTOF-DESI-IMS, GC-MS, and other techniques
- Purification of marine natural products by chromatographic methods (HPLC)
- Sample and compound preparation for chemical analyses
- Installation, maintenance and repair of chemical and analytical equipment
- Planning, implementation and documentation of experiments
- Training and technical support of the academic staff, students and the industrial project partners in the experimental processing of all R & D projects
- General lab organization and tasks (washing, solvent change, waste treatment etc.)
- Support for process development
- Ordering chemicals and consumable
Requirements
- Chemical-technical assistant or related professional education
- Profound knowledge in analytical chemistry, especially hyphenated mass spectrometry techniques
- Solid experience in chromatographic separations (HPLC and others)
- Excellent communication skills in German (both spoken and written)
- Proficiency in English (both spoken and written)
