Intro
Patagonia, an outdoor apparel company founded in 1973, is seeking an IT Systems Engineer to contribute to their mission of protecting the planet. The role involves designing and developing systems for high availability, performance, and security. Responsibilities include overseeing infrastructure, implementing backups and security measures, automating processes, and providing technical support. The ideal candidate should have 3-5 years of experience in computer engineering, industry certifications, hands-on experience with Palo Alto and Cisco technologies, and expertise in Microsoft Azure. Tasks
- Design and develop systems to ensure high availability, performance, and security
- Oversee and maintain infrastructure and system installations
- Implement and manage backups, security measures, and redundancy strategies
- Identify potential issues and develop effective solutions
- Automate processes and create custom scripts
- Collaborate with stakeholders and third-party vendors
- Optimize systems for high availability and efficient resource utilization
- Provide technical guidance and support for new applications and services
- Install and configure operating systems, software, and hardware components
- Test software for bugs and security issues
- Provide Tier 2 and 3 support for IT Helpdesk
- Perform root-cause analysis for service interruptions
- Manage backup strategy and oversee daily operations for secure backups
- Integrate and harmonize technology trends
- Provide technical support for IT Helpdesk and IT Systems Administrator functions
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in computer engineering, systems administration, engineering support, or consulting
- Industry certifications preferred (e.g., Microsoft, Cloud environments, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with Palo Alto and Cisco technologies
- Experience with monitoring/log ingestion platforms preferred (Datadog)
- Expertise in Microsoft Azure and related technologies
- Experience in vendor and stakeholder management
- Strong understanding of networking concepts
- Fluent in English, other languages a plus
- Analytic and problem-solving skills
- Interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and with multiple project deadlines
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines
- Interest in environmental issues and outdoor activities
