Intro
The Administrative and Finance Officer position at IslandsPlas within the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) involves managing the administrative and financial aspects of the IslandPlas project, which focuses on advancing circular solutions to plastic pollution in African islands. The role includes overseeing project expenditures, financial reporting, budget preparation, contract management, audit coordination, internal controls, and logistics administration. The ideal candidate should have a university degree in accounting, finance, or management, at least eight years of experience in administrative and financial management of development projects, proficiency in MS Office and ERP NAV Vision accounting software, and excellent communication skills in Portuguese, French, and English. The position requires working in a multicultural environment, demonstrating honesty, rigor, interpersonal skills, flexibility, and willingness to travel regularly.
Tasks
- Ensure administrative and financial management of the project
- Monitor project expenditures and prepare financial reports
- Collaborate in drafting project procedures manual
- Maintain workflows in the online ERP system
- Prepare payments and maintain project accounting
- Consult stakeholders to estimate financial needs
- Prepare and update project budgets
- Assist in contract preparation and review
- Organize and monitor internal and external audits
- Contribute to the improvement of internal control system
- Prepare administrative and financial statements and reports
- Participate in organization of annual inventory of project assets
- Purchase goods and services according to procedures
- Assist in travel arrangements and event organization
Requirements
- University degree at least Bac+4 level in accounting, finance, or management
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in administrative and financial management of development projects
- Experience in managing projects funded by the EU or Development Banks
- Proficiency in MS Office and ERP NAV Vision accounting software
- Excellent verbal and written communication in Portuguese and French, good knowledge of English
- Experience working in multicultural and/or multilingual contexts
- Good interpersonal skills, flexibility, ability to travel regularly
