Einführung
The ZALF Research Group on “Soil Erosion and Feedbacks” is offering a full-time position for a Scientist to assess soil erosion processes and develop techniques to fight, cope with, or mitigate negative effects of soil erosion in agricultural areas. The position requires a background in Geosciences with a focus on agriculture, soil science, hydrology, or related disciplines, as well as experience in environmental modeling, GIS, and coding. Fluency in German and good English skills are necessary.
Aufgaben
- Collect, prepare, and validate information material for preventive soil protection
- Model water-related soil erosion processes
- Compare available information in other Federal States
- Derive measures to prevent, mitigate, or cope with erosion
- Derive recommendations for action for authorities, consultants, and farmers
Voraussetzungen
- Background knowledge (MSc level) in Geosciences with focus on agriculture, soil science, hydrology, or related disciplines
- Language skills in German on C-Level
- Experience in environmental modeling
- Experience in GIS and coding (R, Python, or similar)
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
- Good to very good written and spoken English skills
